Artistic rendering of Arbor View with resurfaced streets, sidewalk repairs, painted crosswalks and curb cuts to make street crossing more accessible.
An impressive 98% of Arbor View residents use the community sidewalks and streets for walking, running or biking. This next phase of Project HAVEN is designed to enhance Arbor Views roads and sidewalks, develop the AV trails and overlay the community with walking, running and biking loops complete with mile markers. These three projects were deemed the top three initiatives adding the most value to Arbor View per our recent community survey. The AV Pathways project will elevate Arbor View to remain an active community and the premier neighborhood in Woodstock to live, work and play.
This is a comprehensive vision for the community that will take several years to complete which incldues coordinating with Cherokee County to resurface roads, repair sidewalks, add curb cuts and road striping to make walking in the community safer. HOA funds will be used for the wooded trail development and loop system pending an approved plan and funding by the AV Board.

Fully-developed AV trail system for walking, running and biking
Community-wide walking, running and biking loops with mile markers on sidewalks, streets and trail system extensions
At present there is no active project with the County to repave streets within Arbor View or fix the roads. We assume that time is due for this work as neighborhoods within the County near our age, like Copper Creek are scheduled for resurfacing work. The oldest parts of Arbor View are almost 26 years old, including a good portion of Highlands Drive. To ensure Arbor View is prioritized for the County we plan to present an assessment of our streets and sidewalks so we can determine a proper timeline for maintenance.
The desired outcome will be to repave our community streets, repair broken sidewalk slabs, insert curb cuts for easier sidewalk to road transitions and stripe cross walks across streets to continue the sidewalk path as a visible marker within the community to prioritize foot traffic.
Each resident will perform a self-assessment of the condition of the roads and sidewalks; the AV Board will assess areas where there is no adjacent residential property. The Board will summarize findings in a report to the County. Additionally, we'll discuss the speed readings on the radar signs in the community to see if there is any work that may be needed to curb speeding in the community. While there are allegations of chronic speeding the community, there is no empirical evidence and the data on the speed signs will help guide this discussion.
In order to kick off this work we are asking each resident to complete an assessment of the section of the street and sidewalk (if applicable) in front of their home. This data will be collected and presented realtime in the maps below. This assessment, when complete, will be summarized in a report to the County to help us understand when work can begin in Arbor View. Please click on the "Submit Your Assessment" button below and complete one assessment per home. We'd like all surveys complete by the end of September so we can prepare and report and present to the County in October.Â
